“Father, into Your hands I commend my spirit” Lk 23.46.

“This is the last prayer of our Master, of our Beloved...may it be ours...And may it not only be that of our last moment, but of all our moments.”

Moj Oče,

Tebi se propuščam,
stori z menoj, kar hočeš.
Zahvalim se ti za vse,
karkoli boš storil z menoj,
na vse sem pripravljen, vse sprejmem;
da bi se Ie tvoja volja vršiIa v meni
in v vseh tvojih stvareh.
Ničesar drugega si ne žeIim, moj Bog.

Svojo dušo polagam v tvoje roke.
Moj Bog, z vso Ijubeznijo svojega srca ti jo dajem,
ker te Ijubim in čutim potrebo,
da se ti darujem,
da se ti brez meja prepustim
z neskončnim zaupanjem, ker si mi Oče.

This prayer is the shared prayer of all those who claim a relationship with Charles de Foucauld, everywhere in the world; that is why it has been translated into many languages.

Charles did not write it quite as it is appears now: it was taken from a larger meditation, written in 1896, in which he sought to join with the prayer of Jesus on the cross.
