Message from the Secretary of State has just made known to me that the Holy Father has decided that the Beatification of Charles de Foucauld will take place in Rome at the Basilica of St Peter on Sunday, November 13, 2005, and that he will be beatified with two religious belonging to Italian congregations.

I ask you to mark this date and to make it known to persons whom you think would desire to participate in this celebration. More precisions will be given to you later on the preparation and organization of this ceremony.

In transmitting to you this good news, I invite you to give thanks to the Lord who has allowed us to live this event on that Sunday when the liturgy invites all Christians to turn their eyes towards the coming of the Lord, and I assure you of my most fraternal greetings.
